We had the wonderful opportunity this summer to photograph a wedding for Garry and Shannon. They are a wonderful young couple who had a blast at their wedding, it was really a nice wedding to be a part of. We shot the wedding in Athens Ontario such a small town but lots of character. We shot the family and couples pictures all at the house of a friend, which sometimes gets us nervous because sometimes the fear is that the place isn’t as interesting as the owner makes it out to be. But when we arrived the grounds were beautiful and we had plenty of great picture opportunities there. It was a joy to photograph their wedding, even moving at one point toasting a friend who wasn’t with the bridal party in body but there in spirit, one of the most touching moments at any wedding we have been to. Best wishes go out to Shannon and Garry! Enjoy the pictures.

We had the wonderful opportunity to photograph a beautiful couple, Tim and Nicole. We had our hearts set on taking a few shots in the rain. They agreed to shooting in the rain and we set out on our adventure. When we left our house in Smiths Falls it was pouring rain and we were excited to get some of the shots we had imagined in the rain. When we arrived in Merrickville it was dry but the clouds looked promising, for rain that is. We started she shoot, it was brilliant light it was overcast and made for beautiful bright colours. We proceeded to shoot for the next hour or more and no rain. We said to each other “it wont rain until we are in our cars heading home”. Sure enough we ended the shoot and it rained on the way home. Nonetheless we got some fantastic shots that Nicole and Tim love! Thanks for looking.

We have been busy recently doing family shoots as well as just life in general. A few weeks ago we were contacted by a wonderful family to do all their pictures together, and also all the individual families. We went down to the Bay road just outside of Smiths Falls and photographed the family at a friends cottage. They were wonderful to work with, very easy to direct and have fun. They really wanted lively pictures with a lot of fun and character. We feel that we really captured the life that this family displayed. Each individual group of the family only had about 15 min each to set up snap a few pictures and move on. We were able to use our new Canon 5D Mark II with our Canon 24-105 f/4L IS, it worked really well together. We love the image quality of all the pics. Thanks for looking!

We got the opportunity to photograph a family that I have just recently gotten to know very well! Jenny & Maeva have been going to the same playgroup that my little girl and I go to every week. Maeva and my little girl Priscilla have become best friends and they are absolutely adorable to watch play together, feed each other, share their sippy cups, hug and kiss one another and occasionally one of them will sit on the other ones lap for fun. It is quite adorable! So when we were given the chance to photograph this family, we were so excited! We took them to a near by lock station where we took all the photos. We are very excited about how they turned out. Maeva was the typical 1 year old who doesn’t sit still, no smiles on command and just wants to play the whole time. I think we were able to catch some wonderful shots through it all.
Enjoy!

We have been blessed to be busy this year, that means lots of posts to catch up on and more to come! Shannon and Garry were an awesome couple and were a lot of fun to shoot. We went out to what we considered the middle of nowhere in Lyn, Ontario. Lyn is near Athens, and Brockville. When we got there they took us to a beautiful waterfall, where the bugs ate us alive. We got some really great pictures of them there but the bugs were getting too bad. Earlier we we had spotted an old museum with a real country feel to it. Lots of old fram equipment outside to decorate it, so when we were done at the falls we headed over there to finish out the shoot. We are so glad we did because these were some of our favorites from the day. Enjoy!

We had the wonderful opportunity of taking wedding pictures of our dear friends TeKapua and Lindsay Rewi. Leading up the the wedding we got to see them all stressed out about center pieces, which we still have swimming around in a bowl on our table. We got to see the anticipation, the work and the nerves all leading up to the big day. It was a wonderful day despite the weather man calling for thunderstorms. TeKapua and Lindsay made a beautiful couple, the ceremony was filled with joy and passion, and the kiss well they didn’t quite have their fill the first time so after finishing their first kiss they leaned in and smooched a bit more. Over all it was a wonderful day, we hope you enjoy the photographs. If you have any questions about these images please leave a comment and we would be glad to respond.

Te Kapua & Lindsay are some very good friends of ours and we got the opportunity to shoot their engagement and wedding photos! It was so much fun!
The engagement photos were taken on the way to Merrickville, Ontario. We stopped on the railway tracks to take a few and then headed to a nearby abandoned house that we had found about 6 months ago. It made for some really great photos! When we were done shooting at the house, we hopped in our vehicles and started backing out the long lane way and both got stuck in the mud! It had been raining a LOT lately and the ground was just mush! There was no way we were going to get out ourselves so Luke & Te Kapua headed to the neighbors house because they saw he had a truck sitting in his driveway. The neighbor, Sean, was so nice and willing to help us! He came with his truck and got our vehicle out first and then proceeded to get Te Kapua’s car when HE got stuck! Sean, being the great guy he was said “no worries, I’ll be back” and came back driving an excavator!!!! He got both his truck out and Te Kapua’s car and we were all good! It was quite the memorable experience and made for some good laughs!

Wedding pics to be posted…….

We are so excited about this new opportunity that has come up. The Tiny Light Foundation contacted Luke and Lee Photography to join their team of photographers. Tiny Light is a really amazing foundation, they help connect families who have been through some major life problems with their child with photographers who are willing to do a free photo shoot with the child. Some of the stories are quite amazing, some are sad but knowing that there are people out there that care about such things as this is amazing.
When I was contacted by Tiny Light to join their team of photographers I was honored. It was something that really connected with me. When I was a child i spent the first year of my life in and out of the hospital. I always listened to some of the stories my mother would tell about what it was like. She stayed at the Ronald McDonald house many nights wondering if I was going to make it. I was born with Hirschsprung’s disease that was not diagnosed in time, which created an devastating amount of complications. I know that if someone had of been willing to take photographs for my family in the busyness of all the hospital visits it would have really touched my mothers heart. That is why when I was asked to be part of this I knew without a doubt it was something I wanted to do.
Our first shoot with our first Tiny Light family is coming up very soon we will be meeting with the mother this week to talk about all the needs associated with her child then schedule the shoot. Check back soon for an update about the shoot and for a few pictures.

This has been an awesome year for my family and our photography. So many changes took place in our lives this year. My wife Lee-Anne and I became parents in 2010, which meant a brand new subject for us to take pictures of. Early on it was easy to photograph our little daughter she had no choice but to stay still for the camera.
We took all the opportunities we had to make sure the first year of her life was well documented. It seems so wild that such a short time ago she was laying on her mothers belly fast asleep oblivious to the strobe lights flashing constantly around her…Now just 9 months later she has developed into her own little person. We have seen her personality explode over the last few months, she laughs and plays games, even has began to give kisses (which we are particularly fond of, especially the nice wet slobbery ones). It really is quite amazing to watch such a drastic change take place in such short of a time.
We had such a wonderful time with our little girl this year and she has been the real highlight of our life over the course of 2010. In fact we have enjoyed her so much we are having our second join us in 2011. Can’t wait to see what more is going to be in store for us next year. Looks like we will have to get a new family picture taken soon! Have a great 2011.

We have finally acquired the proper equipment to start doing coloured background shots. It took some time to get it right but the results are amazing. We took a few pictures of our little baby girl to show everyone what kind of results we can get with a white background. After some time of working out the lighting and getting Priscilla to calm down and look at the camera we captured some priceless shots of her. If you like what you see and you have a little baby no matter how old we would love to help capture these precious moments for you. Keep posted, more photographs to come!
